Belgian waffles

Belgian waffles sweet for breakfast

Belgische Waffeln

For 4 servings

Waffle batter

200g buttermilk
1 egg
1 tbsp olive oil (15g)
25g butter
1/4 tsp cinnamon
150g flour
1g baking soda
2.5g baking powder
35g sugar

Topping

100g sour cream (optional)
maple syrup (optional)
powdered sugar

Oil or baking spray

Whisk an egg in the buttermilk. Melt the butter, mix all the dry ingredients together and add the buttermilk-egg mixture, don't forget the melted only just warm butter and make a homogeneous dough. Let the dough rest covered for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven and warm the plates at 70 degrees.

Preheat the waffle iron and oil it with oil or baking spray.

15 minutes before the eggs are ready bake the waffles until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes, you know your waffle iron.

To serve, place the waffles on a plate topped with powdered sugar, add sour cream if you like and pour on some maple syrup.
